At Capital Forged we judiciously use 6061-T6 grade aluminum in our product. Lower aluminum grades such as 5052 are heavier and weaker. Conversely, higher aluminum grades such as 7071 are less flexible and have a tendency to crack. Capital Forged engineers deem 6061-T6 aluminum is the best selection for wheel applications due to its tensile strength, performance, and durability. 6061-T6 is used world-wide in a multitude of applications and has a uniform material cost everywhere. So, if you are paying less for a wheel that claims to be 6061-T6 forged, it is probably not authentic.
In contrast to many other wheel manufacturers, Capital Forged Wheels are all forged aluminum- not cast. Cast wheels are made from pouring molten metal into a wheel-shaped mold. They are tremendously weaker than forged aluminum and much heavier. Cast Wheels are easily distinguished by their inexpensive price. Forged wheels, on the other hand, start with the aluminum being heated in an oven. Then the aluminum is transferred to a rotary forged press where it is compressed with 4000 tons of force and then spun causing the aluminum molecules to realign into a strong circular grain. This process makes the aluminum stronger and lighter in weight. |

| Spun Aluminum Barrels |
|
Capital Forged barrels are made with 6061-T6 aluminum- just like our centers. The aluminum sheet is formed into a ring using a computer numerical control machine (CNC). The CNC machine rapidly spins the aluminum to realign the molecules into a strong circular grain thus forming a lightweight and strong barrel.
Capital Forged barrels are available as 1-piece (1 full barrel) or 2-piece (2 half barrels). 1-piece barrels are stronger and do not require glue or welding for assembly. 1-piece barrels also come fully chromed. In 2-piece configuration, only the outer half may be chromed. The inner half of the 2-piece barrel would have a machined color. The 2 halves may not both be chromed because the glue that joins the pieces will not adhere properly to two chromed surfaces thus causing air to leak from the tire. Typically, the advantage of the 2-piece barrel is that the halves are available in various sizes and can give any vehicle the proper fit and combination of size. Capital Forged differs from most of the industry because our 1-piece wheels are equally available in any size and combination as any 2-piece barrel offering in a 19-26 inch diameter and 8.5-11 width. |

| Aluminum Center Caps |
|
Capital Forged uses 6061-T6 aluminum center caps. Our center caps look better than plastic caps with stickers because designs are engraved into the aluminum center for long -lasting wear. Stickers can easily peel off. The aluminum center caps are inherently more durable than fragile plastic caps that can crack easily. Lastly, Capital Forged uses aluminum center caps because in order to steal it, the wheel must be removed whereas plastic caps readily pop off. |

| Stainless Steel Fasteners |
|
Capital Forged exclusively uses stainless steel bolt and nut fasteners. Stainless steel fasteners are more expensive than chromed steel fasteners but they do not rust and cause the fastener to break. Capital Forged ensures that every wheel is tightened at 28 ft/lbs of torque, creating a safe, durable assembled wheel. |

| Engineering |
|
Capital Forged wheels are designed on a Computer-Aided Design system (CAD) which enables designers to analyze the design in 2d or 3d. Capital Forged wheels are also studied on a Finite Element Analysis system (FEA); a virtual computer to see the strength and rigidity of a wheel. Finally, third-party radial, lateral and impact tests are conducted to ensure that Capital Forged wheel designs can withstand any weight load and properly handle on any vehicle. |

| Hub Centric Fit |
|
|
Capital Forged wheels are all hub-centric fit to any vehicle. Hub-centric fit means that the offset, center bore and bolt pattern of each wheel are exactly matched to the particular vehicle. Other wheels offered in the industry require the use of spacers or hub-centering rings. If a wheel has to use these correction devices, the wheel created is not hub-centric to the vehicle. Similarly, if the wheel does not fit or if the wheel sticks out past the fender, then the wheel is not hub centric. If the wheel is not hub-centric to the vehicle the result is usually dangerous vibrations and compromised handling when driving.
|
 |
Capital Forged wheels go beyond hub-centricity and offers true perfect fit wheels. We make sure that your tires do not rub against anything but the road. When Capital Forged wheels are installed, the lug nuts do not stick out past the face of the wheel. Brake caliper clearance is achieved with a minimal amount of space providing the wheel a perfect looking fit. Capital Forged wheels never require the dangerous measure of shaving the backside of the wheel to make the wheel fit over the brake caliper.
There are many interpretations of a truly hub-centric and perfect fit wheel. Therefore, all Capital Forged wheels are made to order. This ensures that each customer gets a unique and customized wheel that works for their application. |

All Capital Forged wheels are hand-polished to make sure that chrome, powder coats, and paint bonds sufficiently to the aluminum.
Capital Forged chrome plating requires a 3 step process to ensure a quality finish. First, the wheels are copper plated to prevent aluminum distortion. This is followed by nickel plating to produce shine. Lastly, the wheels are dipped in chrome. This process ensures the wheel gets a durable, shiny, chrome look.
Capital Forged also powder coats their wheels in an array of available colors. Powder coating involves the application of dry particulate paint onto the wheel surface. The wheel is then baked in extreme heat to turn the dry paint powder into a liquid skin. Finally a clear-coat is applied to protect the color. Powder coating is better than painting because it lasts longer and it does not peel.
Capital Forged offers painted finishes as an alternative to the limited color palette of powder coat finishes. Capital Forged can color match or paint in any color if the required color is not available in powder coat or by request. Painting provides the flexibility of painting certain portions of the wheel a different color than the rest of the surface. We call these portions “accents.” Capital Forged can also paint a pinstripe on the wheel’s outer lip. All painted wheels are clear coated to protect the shine and color of the wheel. |

| Additional Features |

Capital Forged also offers blind bolts. Blind bolted wheels offer a different look than a regular multi-piece wheel. A blind bolted wheel the fasteners can not be seen on the face of wheel. Instead the wheel is bolted from behind the face. The bolts on the back side are machined with the center. It is a new and innovative look.

|
| Capital Forged also offers pinstripes on the outside lip of the wheel. The outside lip is machined with a pinstripe groove around the circumference of the wheel. Then the pinstripe groove is painted and clear coated. This also is a new, innovative look. |
